Before you start

  • A signed-in account in an installation where chat is enabled by configuration.
  • Microphone permission when you intend to record voice messages.

You are done when

  • The conversation list loads, and a sent message reaches the Sent or Delivered state.

If something goes wrong

  • If a message shows Failed, use Retry on the message after checking your connection.
  • If the Chat session expired banner appears, choose Reconnect; messages are not sent while chat is disconnected.

Find and start conversations

  1. Open chat from the navigation

The conversation list shows direct and group conversations with unread counts. Use search and the All, Direct, and Groups filters to narrow it.

  2. Start a direct message from course People

Open Courses, choose the course, open People, and choose Message next to a person. Chat opens the existing conversation or creates one.

  3. Confirm who you are talking to

The conversation header shows the person and their presence: Online, Offline, or the last seen time.

Send messages

  • Write text in the composer, or attach images and documents from the attachment menu.
  • Record voice messages with the microphone control, then play, discard, or send the recorded clip.
  • Each outgoing message shows its delivery state: Sending, Failed, Sent, Delivered, or Seen.
  • Typing indicators show when the other side is writing.

Recover the chat session

  • Chat runs on a separate, time-limited messaging session issued by Mirket.
  • When that session expires, Mirket reconnects transparently once; if that is not possible, the Chat session expired banner appears.
  • Choose Reconnect in the banner. While disconnected, sending is blocked with an explicit message instead of silently dropping the text.
  • If reconnecting fails repeatedly, reload the page and report the visible error to the facility administrator.
