Before you start

  • Student membership in the course that owns the exam.
  • A published exam inside its availability window with attempts remaining.
  • A stable connection and a device that can stay on the attempt page until submission finishes.

You are done when

  • The attempt shows Submitted or Time expired instead of In progress.
  • The save indicator showed Answers saved before submission, and the attempt records a submission time.

If something goes wrong

  • If an answer shows Save needs attention, stay on the page. Failed answers stay queued and are retried until the server confirms them.
  • If the browser or connection fails mid-attempt, sign back in and reopen the exam. An unexpired attempt continues with every confirmed answer intact.
  • If time ran out while you were disconnected, the server closes and scores the attempt automatically. Reopen the exam to confirm the final status instead of starting a new attempt.

Understand the attempt window

  • The exam shows its time limit, attempt allowance, and when availability closes before you start.
  • The timer starts on the server the moment you choose Start attempt. Closing the page does not pause it.
  • An attempt ends at the earlier of the time limit or the availability close, so starting near the deadline shortens the attempt.
  • Reopening the exam while an attempt is in progress continues that attempt rather than consuming a new one.
  • Individual accommodations granted by the instructor can extend your window, duration, or attempt allowance.

Answer with automatic saving

  1. Open Courses, choose the course, then open Exams

Read the time limit, attempt allowance, and closing time on the start panel, then choose Start attempt. Question order can differ between students when the instructor enables shuffling.

  2. Watch the save state while answering

Every change is saved automatically moments after you make it. The header shows Saving answers, Answers saved, or Save needs attention next to the remaining time.

  3. Keep the page open after a failed save

A failed answer stays queued and is retried. Wait for the indicator to return to Answers saved before leaving the page.

Submit or run out of time

  1. Choose Submit attempt when you are done

Pending answers are saved first, then a confirmation explains that saved answers become final and the attempt cannot be reopened.

  2. Know what expiry does

When time expires while the page is open, Mirket submits the attempt automatically with the answers already saved. The attempt then shows Time expired.

  3. Know the disconnection behavior

Confirmed answers live on the server. If you never return, the server grades the expired attempt on its own within about a minute of expiry: unanswered objective questions score zero and written answers wait for instructor grading.

Read your result

  • After submission the exam shows Attempt received. Responses are recorded even while scores stay hidden.
  • Scores and feedback appear only after the instructor releases the course gradebook; the attempt then shows the earned and maximum points.
  • Use Review latest attempt to reopen your responses at any time.
